Old Navy Chemise $11.99-$20.00

In college, my lounge/study wear consisted of various pairs of sweat pants and tanks. Four years after graduation, I still wear my beloved white cotton sweat pants when lounging around the house. The have so many holes and stains that every time I wear them at my parents’ house, my mom puts her best effort into repairing them and pleading with me to throw them away.

A few months ago my friend Krista extended me a much needed introduction to the concept of a house dress. A house dress is a dress that is short and light weight, but a little more substantial than lingerie. It’s the perfect outfit for warm summer nights in. While it’s not something that you would wear outside of the house, you can definitely wear it during movie night with your closest girlfriends.

The house dress is basically the sexy single girl version of ratty sweatpants and a tank. Just because its more sophisticated, doesn’t mean it has to be more expensive. Old Navy has some really cute ones for under $20.

The Budget Babe tagged me for a 2008 Premio Award, which means now it is my turn to pass it on to my favorite bloggers. Here some of my favorite blogs that I think you will love.

Cupcakes and Cashmere – This blog is well written and smart. I’m amazed at the things she and I have in common.

Because I’m Addicted – Ger always knows about all the fabulous things going on around LaLa Land.

ChicShopper – As an employee of PriceGrabber.com you might think that I feel obligated to link to this blog. No way! I read this blog for Z’s insight into the fashion world that she pairs with reasonably priced products.

Fashion Addict Girl – Always has great insight on the latest campaigns and trends in high fashion.

The rules for passing on the award:
1) When received, you may post the premio to your blog.
2) Link to the blogger you received it from.
3) Give it to 7 blogs (I just did my 4 absolute favorites)
4)… link to them
5)…and leave bloggers a comment about receiving the brilliant premio.

GO International By Target July 9, 2008

I have to say that I am kinda on the fence about the GO International summer line. It has some really cute pieces, but some of it is really ugly. I would die before I would ever wore the ruffle nightmare to the left. I love the shorts and blazer on the model in the middle, but I would never wear them together with that hat. I also really like the black skirt on the right paired with the floral shirt.

This collection does offer some great pieces at very affordable pieces, just be careful how you pair them.

Urban Outfitters – $48.00

I love shirt dresses. They are the perfect travel dress because you can dress them up or down. They pair well with leggings, gladiators, or ballet flats.

Fourth of July Style – Beach BBQ Chic July 2, 2008

I love the Fourth of July. This year I am taking a break from LaLa land and heading home to the O.C.One of my biggest pet peeves about Fourth of July is when girls get way too dressed up for beach BBQ’s.

In my opinion, if you are going to a BBQ near the beach – you should dress like you are going to the beach. Basically leave all your trendy/high maintenance gear at home including – gladiator sandals, high waisted shorts/skirts, belts, big earrings, layers of bangles, high heels.

Here are a couple outfits that I thought worked for Beach BBQ chic. My essentials for Fourth of July 2008 are: factor 50 sunscreen, big sunglasses, neon green havianas, dark denim cut-offs, and my fav American Apparel white t-shirt, and a simple necklace.

Summer Travel – What To Bring In Your Carry On July 1, 2008

I have never liked flying. When I was little, I got motion sick pretty easily; now, I just hate the cramped seating and recycled air smell. On my recent trip to New York, I was determined to make my plane experience a little better. Here is quick list of my essential carry on items.

  1. Pretzels – I always bring pretzels on the plane to settle my stomach in case I get a stomach ache.
  2. Chap stick/Lotion/Water – My regime for battling recycled plane air.
  3. Hat/Sunglasses – Let’s face it, most trips start pretty early in the morning and I don’t always have time to do my hair/make up.
  4. Leggings – Can you think of anything more comfortable to wear on a plane?
  5. Coffee/lunch – I basically like to pretend that I am at home on the couch when I am sitting on a plane. So good coffee and food are essential.
  6. Pashmina – I love bringing my pashmina on the plane because it doubles as a scarf and blanket. It’s so much softer than the nasty airplane blankets.
  7. Socks – Socks are my most essential plane accessories. They keep my feet warm and prevent me from having to put on my shoes when I go to the bathroom.
